Your Parish Council plays an important part in representing interests of local residents. We aim to improve quality of life and the local environment, to enable things to happen and to support the community. We deliver a variety of services to meet local needs. These include:
Monitoring and trying to improve local amenities such as highway, transport & planning matters; street lighting; bus shelters; recycling facilities and grit bins.
Taking moves to keep local businesses viable by encouraging their use and providing adequate parking space.
We realise the need to protect personal livelihoods and respect the needs for those around them to be able to enjoy a reasonable quality of life.
Aiming to improve problems of dog fouling and litter.
Monitoring proposed local developments such as Snoasis and the Energy For Waste Facility at Great Blakenham, the Offshore Wind Farm which will link to a converter station at Bramford and plans for major changes to the Old Fisons Site in Paper Mill Lane.
Working with the Mid Suffolk Safer Neighbourhood team which aims to prevent and reduce crime and provide reassurance for victims of crime.
With Great Blakenham and Barham Parish Councils, we part-fund a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) who is regularly out and about in our villages. Telephone 101 if you have a concern that you would like the police to deal with.
Supporting local facilities such as the Village Hall, Community Centre, Recreation Ground, Conservation area and not-for-profit organisations.
Holding regular public meetings to discuss current issues, with opportunity for members of the local community to ask questions .
