Please see this short summary from Gail Cornish, the planning chairman for Claydon and Whitton Parish Council following that meeting.

District Councillors, Local Objectors and Chairman of Planning at Claydon & Whitton Parish Council worked extremely hard to put over their objections within the 3 minutes allowed.

Although many District Councillor attending would normally pass housing applications, due to there not being the 5 years supply of housing available in Mid Suffolk at present, they were persuaded by the arguments put forward and came to a unanimous decision not to support the application.

Many planning regulation were stated for refusing including noise level unacceptably high from A14 due to sloping land, the need to maintain a separate community by retaining the countryside zone between Ipswich and Claydon and also cumulative effect of traffic on a busy junction into Ipswich.

The parish council are pleased with the result and also wish to thank all of the members of the community who helped in the decision making process by raising their individual applications online.

We are now awaiting a formal notification and to find out whether the applicant is intending to appeal against the decision.
